Interview with Freightech Truck Driver – Gregory J.

0Trucking Experience

At Freightech we don’t settle with being just another transport carrier provider , we aspire to be your trusted business partner.

Trust is something we build throughout the years and the appreciation to all team members helps us to achieve that.

We treat our drivers with respect and dignity as they move our economy and deliver freight to every place across the state.

Another one of Freightech drivers that is extremely dedicated and works highly professional is Gregory Jefferson.

We conducted a short interview with him about his truck driving experience.

Q: why did you choose truck driving career?

Gregory:

As a child I was always fascinated by trucks.

We took a cross-country trip to Disney World and I would stay up at night to see all the trucks on the road with all the chicken lights, I thought that was so cool.

And I just love to drive.

So I had the opportunity about four year’s ago and started my career at Prime Inc in their flatbed division.

Q: what is the best part about being a truck driver?

Gregory:

To me the best part about trucking is the travel.

You get to see places and roadside attractions that you never would if you flew.

Everyday is different so it keeps things exciting.

Gregory:

The worst thing about trucking is the danger.

We are professional drivers, but you can’t let your guard down, your life could change in a split second.

Q: How does your typical work day look like?

Gregory:

My typical work day –  I wake up, I give Thanks, eat breakfast, clean up so I’m refreshed, pre-trip, plan my route, get some good music going and start my next adventure.

My longest haul was from Seattle WA to Miami FL.

That felt like it took forever!

But I listen to music, podcast and sometimes I just drive in silence.

Q: what type of truck do you drive?

Gregory:

I currently drive new equipment, a truck 2022 Freightliner Cascadia.

This truck is so smooth!

Q: how do you stay motivated on the road? do you have any hobbies?

Gregory:

I stay motivated by repeating in my head the goals I have set.

Watching the miles go by it tends to take a toll on you mentally but I remind myself what the end-game will be.

My hobby is collecting shot glasses.

I have probably close to 500 so far and I just keep collecting them when I see cool one’s at truck stops.

Q: how do you maintain good communication with your dispatcher?

Gregory:

My dispatcher is Christine, she is THE BEST!

She is very professional and we work very well together.

I wish every driver had a dispatcher like her because she is patient, understanding, knowledgeable and is there when I need her.

Q: where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

Gregory:

In five years I still see myself here at Freightech.

I really like the way I am treated.

I’m not forced to do anything I don’t want to, they let me run my truck, I get home on-time, safety is easy to communicate with and they keep me informed.

Q: how long are you freightech driver and would you recommend it to other truck driverS?

Gregory:

I have been with Freightech for over six months and I would highly recommend working here as an OTR driver.

I did look at other companies before coming aboard, but I chose Freightech, because I didn’t want to work for a mega-carrier anymore.

And so far I’m glad I made this decision.
